SMBKC Cultural Center
The whole front end for the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural Center — an institutional site in Arabic and English carrying a lending library, hall bookings and competition entries. Designed and built end to end on the front-end side.
Built at FSIT for a cultural institution in the UAE. The front end is mine end to end — the design and the build both.
Three of the things the centre does have their own flow on the site: an electronic library members borrow books through, a booking system for the halls, and the awards and competitions members enter. Around those sits the institutional half — the board, the organisational structure, the values, strategy, goals and plans, the affiliated school and association, and the exhibitions and events calendar. Members sign in; visitors can apply to join.
It runs in Arabic and English, and on a site with this much text that is a layout problem more than a translation one: the whole page mirrors, so every rule with a left or a right in it has to be written as a start or an end instead.
